Elon Musk's Future of Life Institute Grant Rejection
Elon Musk's Future of Life Institute Grant Rejection
WE KNOW that a person shapes themselves through overcoming – this is a classic tenet of personal evolution. But a person also needs dialogue, to understand they are not alone, they need various kinds of support, they need like-minded people and friends. And here already arise reasons for reflection… Do I have all of this? To at least have a sense of life, if not more…
I am upset today.
Last night, a message came that Elon Musk's Future of Life Institute did not invite me and our Institute of Strategic Branding "Alpha" (abbreviated: INBRASA) to the next stage of the AI grant application procedure, where we needed to submit resumes of my team's top members and describe the project points in more detail for which the funding is requested. In the first stage, the LOI - letter of intent stage, it was enough to send them my personal resume and a brief description of the proposal requiring funding.
I requested the maximum amount from the possible range – $500,000 for three years. Go big or go home, as they say. I described the idea for funding within the framework of INBRASA's initial period – gathering bright minds, a development matrix, trainings, clusters, social elevators, etc. And the most challenging part – all of this had to be not just written in English (and I am not particularly good with languages and don't know a word of English), but also fit within a specific character count. Thanks to my friends, who are also my top team members, who reacted quickly and were there for me, and together we managed to correctly complete the initial steps – formulating the body of the letter, registration…
It was a bit like launching a rocket into space, but I thought nothing was limiting me/us, the competition is international, and we could try. Ideally, of course, it would be to get a positive result at all stages – at the first, to introduce the Future of Life Institute to me and the idea, at the second – to the project team, at the third to establish a partnership with the Institute, showcasing and shaping Moldova in a positive and progressive light… and for this to receive not only material incentives in the form of money but also intangible ones in the form of communication and collaboration with colleagues in shaping the future and even, what if?, to organize a visit by Musk here to us, to Moldova. I am waiting for him here – both in our region with our neighbors, and specifically with us, in Chisinau. Why am I waiting? Because I want the name of my country to be heard on the world stage not only in a minor key but also in the context of sympathy and creation. That is, positively. That is, as intended along the lines of strategic branding…
The end of January was morally preparatory, and then all of February was anxiously expectant.
Many thanks to the Future of Life Institute and specifically to Andrea, the grants manager, for the prompt and caring feedback! Andrea wrote to me that more than 500 applications participated in the competition, and this turned out to be a surprise for them – a very large volume of information to process in a short time. So many that they don't even respond to everyone. But I am grateful that they always found time for me and wrote personally!
Andrea also wrote that the topic raised by INBRASA is important. Making Moldova a space of advanced development, updating people's consciousness for the challenges of the future, helping a person become variable, as the times require, and therefore their surrounding environment too… to survive and rise… yes, all of this is very important. It's encouraging that I'm not the only one who understands this.
If you have options regarding organizational matters and financial support for INBRASA – a common space for everyone – speak up and propose them to me. And not sometime later, but now. Okay?
So that I don't feel like an alien in a cave by the fire in the Stone Age… I want to be among equals. Among those who care. Not afraid of complex tasks, scale, and inner work. Among those who think, reflect, and support. So that, at a minimum, there is a sense of life.
And at a maximum…
Sincerely, Elena Radu,
Head of "INBRASA",
02/25/2025.
